We're proud to have contributed to another record breaking Appeal.

With £4.46m being raised by colleagues and customers so far, we became the biggest ever corporate supporter of BBC Children in Need as a result of our partnership which is brought to life through the three core pillars of support - School, Colleague and Customer Fundraising.

As exclusive Schools Partner, Lloyds Banking Group has committed to helping the charity support all UK schools and millions of children with charitable fundraising and key skills development. This is expected to double donations raised through schools by 2017.

A record number of schools have engaged with the Champions of Change programme, with thousands of schools and millions of children taking part this year.

We committed to raise at least £2 million per year for BBC Children in Need, as our Charity of the Year in 2015 and 2016. Fundraising activities have included “Pedals for Pudsey” whereby 1,200 colleagues in 200 teams across 120 locations pedaled over 61,000 miles in 24 hours raising over £300,000. Earlier this year, 35 colleagues succeeded in their efforts to scale 24 peaks in 24 hours for the “Peaks for Pudsey” challenge, held across some of the most well-known and daunting peaks in the Lake District. The team raised over £100,000. Branches and offices across the UK have also been participating in bake sales, dress up days and many other fundraising initiatives.

Lloyds Bank Customers have also been involved, donating their “Pennies for Pudsey” in-branches and through Internet Banking, with the Group match-funding every penny up to £500,000.

These combined efforts have seen Lloyds Banking Group colleagues and customers raise £4.46 million so far for this year’s Appeal. This is nearly three times the amount previously raised by a corporate supporter.

Colleagues have also made significant volunteering contributions to BBC Children in Need, with over 200 supporting local schools with their Champions of Change activities. Colleagues also volunteered more than 8,500 volunteer hours to process millions of pounds during the Appeal Night telethon. With 720 telephone lines and over 1,700 volunteers, the Group also became the largest provider of telephony to the charity for the first year ever.

The British public has also got behind the Group’s support of BBC Children in Need this year, buying 58,000 limited edition Pudsey Moneyboxes available exclusively in Lloyds Bank branches across the UK. Costing just £5, every penny of the purchase price has gone directly to the charity, raising £290,000.

Commenting on the partnership, David Ramsden, Chief Executive of BBC Children in Need, added: “We thank all of the staff and customers of Lloyds Banking Group. Having them as Principal Partner is helping us to change the lives of many more disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.”
