Sculpting workshops

Art & Murals supports mental health sufferers during their important first steps to re-engaging with society.

Donna McGhie is the founder of Art & Murals, she discovered the therapeutic benefits of fabric and sculpting workshops for sufferers of depression and mental health issues while working with a mental health charity. Combining her passion for art with her desire to help other people, Donna runs monthly workshops at the Boutique Village in Millbrook, Southampton.

With the support of the Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs programme, Donna aims to work alongside mental health charities and offer affordable workshops for more people in the community.

Donna has found the Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs Programme to be an incredible source of support and has learnt the importance of having a business plan whilst also being open to new ideas and opportunities. Networking with other social entrepreneurs at different stages of their business development has proved inspiring and she has learnt a lot from them. She said: “I’d advise anyone thinking about starting a social enterprise to get on to a scheme like the Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs programme. There are a lot of areas I didn’t know about before joining the programme and my Lloyds Banking Group mentor, Kerry Gascoyne, has been really supportive whilst offering a valuable insight from a business perspective.”
